Well, we have to put the ‘Ol Sheila’ to work!! Ha,ha
Here we are arriving in London and ‘surviving’ what is effectively the longest flight- just under 18 hours Auckland to Doha; then another 7 hrs Doha to London.
I must say, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, (vegan and gluten free), the attentiveness of the air steward/hostesses, and how smooth overall the flight went. 18 hours passed by quite quickly.
Of course, as with most economy seats, if you were on the large side then you would probably struggle however this would happen no matter what airline you flew.
The short transit time in Doha was just enough to stretch the legs and have a quick look around Doha airport. The yellow bear in the middle of Hamad airport in Doha is made of cast bronze and was sculpted by a New York based Swiss artist. Initially found at the Seagrams building in New York, but was purchased by the Qatar royal family for a measly $6.8M at Christie Auction in New York.
Upon arrival in the UK, we exited with our UK passports without a hitch with no interest in us from customs. Whew! (But then again, who would have been interested in a few tea bags and some muesli bars)
Welcome to the UK you guys
Just a tad warmer than nz I bet,
Hope to catch up somewhere in Europe
Happy Travels
