We head toward Paris for our Jimmy Buffett concert at La Cigale but stop for the night at Romorantin in the Loire Valley. Its a small town with lots of character. We find a nice guesthouse called Les Thiauseres in the middle of town and as usual , go for a wander.
BTW – I hadn’t seen any of these Starbuck ‘self service’ kiosks! But there was one at one of the highway service station stops
We continue onto Paris where Gisele, a friend of Francoise, has invited us to stay for the night. What a charming family! They made us very welcome.
We decided to walk the 9km to La Cigale from Gisele’s apartment in 12th arrondissement. Along the way, we got caught up in some protest. Wow, this is serious stuff. Lots of police on hand, ready to intervene if things turn ugly (which they didn’t!). But for us Kiwis, seeing police fully decked out in riot gear, is not something we see everyday.
The Jimmy Buffett concert was fantastic! We arrived early to be at the front of the stage and it was an amazing ambience – with only 950 or so capacity – you would never get so close to Jimmy Buffett or the stage in any other venue. He had a myriad of musicians on stage and everyone got into the swing of it. What an amazing night!
Tomorrow we’re on our way to see our friends Toot and Karen in Belgium!
